Vacation time...

Noch habe ich Urlaub. Und ich genieße ihn in vollen Zügen. Schlafen, fernseh schauen, shoppen, Zeit mit der Familie verbringen...Alles, was nun mal so anfällt.

In der vergangenen Woche war ich:

- ein mal beim Reiten (dabei)

- zwei mal beim Fußball

- ein mal bei Lacrosse

- zwei mal in der Mall (Gesamtausgaben: 28$)

- drei mal bei Target

- ein mal bei Marshalls, Wal Mart und Co. 

- zwei mal in der Cheesecake Factory

- zwei mal bei Panera Bread

- ein mal mit Freunden aus

- im Kino ("This is the end" - worst movie ever!!)

Es steht noch an: 

- ein Fieldhockey-Game (UNC vs. Duke) heute Abend (u.a. mit einer Spielerin aus München!!)

- Bowlingspielen heute Abend

- ein Football-Game (UNC vs. ECU) morgen 

- und Besuch aus Deutschland am Sonntag 

Die Zeit ist also gut verplant. Und dennoch ist der Mix aus Stress und Erholung gerade richtig und ich war gestern schon wieder so weit zu sagen: "Ich will hier nicht weg!" Es ist schön alte Freunde wiederzutreffen, egal ob eben meine Familie, "Einheimische", die ich als Au-Pair kennengelernt habe oder andere Au-Pairs, die ebenfalls gerade hier sind. Und dennoch bin ich gespannt, was die Großstadt so zu bieten hat. 

Auf, auf nach New York

Am Montag geht's frühs weiter gen Big Apple. Da mein Vermieter nicht in der Stadt ist, ist mein Mitbewohner T. für mich "zuständig". Er arbeitet zwar bis abends und ich könnte theoretisch erst dann in meine unsere Wohnung, dennoch schrieb er mir eben, ich sollte mich einfach melden, sobald ich in der Stadt bin, vielleicht könnte der Einzug auch früher klappen. Klang jedenfalls sehr nett (und hey - sieht auch nett aus...).

I am still on vacation - and I love it. Watching TV, sleeping, hanging out with the family - the perfect mix. 

I've been to horseback riding, soccer, lacrosse, the mall, target, marshalls and co., the Cheesecake Factory, Panera Bread and Taco Bell, was out with friends and went to the movies ("This is the end"...don't watch it!). 

Coming up: A fieldhockey-game tonight. Also: Bowling tonight. And the rest of the weekend? Football tomorrow and a visitor from Germany on Sunday. 

I am happy to meet old friends here - either some of the americans I met here or other Au-Pairs who happen to be here right now. I enjoy every minute of it. 

NYC - far far away

On Monday I'll be heading up north to the Big Apple. Since my landlord is out of town my roommate T. will be in charge of my move. Sadly he's working until 7pm but he already texted me, I should just give him a call or send him a text maybe we can arrange something else. Would be awesome to get into the apartment once I arrive in Manhattan - which would be noon. Unpacking, grocery shopping and stuff like that. Well, at least he sounded nice (and oh..is looking nice!).

Ich bin da. 

Mittwoch Abend planmäßig in Raleigh-Durham gelandet. 

Wieso Raleigh-Durham und nicht New York? 

Weil ich erstmal Urlaub mache, bei meiner Au-Pair-Gastfamilie. 

Kurz vor Abflug hatte ich ja nochmal kurz Panik, dass ich mich ja gar nicht mehr auskennen würde (war seit einem Jahr nicht mehr hier), aber das hat sich verflüchtigt, als ich im Auto meines Gastvaters saß und wir Richtung "zuhause" gefahren sind. Natürlich kenne ich die Straße noch, die ich 2009/2010 täglich abgefahren bin. Es hat sich wenig verändert - außer der Heimweg. Meine Family wohnt nun nämlich in einem neuen Haus! Die Kinder waren leicht irritiert, als wir in den Driveway eingebogen sind - sie wusste nichts von meinem Besuch. Und was soll ich sagen: es war mal wieder die ganz große Liebe! 

Gestern gabs dann gleich mal eine grandiose Hiobsbotschaft, dass meine EC-Karte nicht funktioniert. Ich bin mit 200$ in der Tasche hergekommen und komme nun nicht an mein Geld aus Deutschland. Und ich verfalle doch so leicht in Panik. Ich werde nun versuchen dieses Dilemma irgendwie glattzubügeln, ich will doch wenigstens ein bisschen einkaufen. Und einen trinken gehen. 

Und eigentlich gäbs schon wieder so viel zu schreiben und zu erzählen, aber dann wiederum geh ich mir jetzt die Haare föhnen und in die Mall.

I made it to Raleigh-Durham. 

Why RDU not NYC? 

Because I am first on vacation with my old hostfamily. 

Shortly before I came here I had a little panic attack I wouldn't know my way around but hey - as soon as I jumped into my hostdad's car I knew where we are. I drove those streets up and down at least once a day for 365 days four years ago. Little has changed - except of my way home. My family is living in a new house - so exciting! The kids were confused since they didn't know about me coming for a visit. And I have to say: It was love at first sight. I missed those crazy "Germaricans". 

Well and yesterday I got not-so-great news: My german debit card isn't working. I got here with 200$ in my pocket and well...now I have to find a way to get money. I am already in panic again. I just wanted to shop a little, have a drink or two...

I could already tell so much, but no. I'm about to dry my hair and head to the mall!
